Poipu Bay Golf Course

Poipu Bay stretches along Kauai's sunny South Shore near Koloa, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design set on about 210 oceanfront acres between mountain backdrop and rugged sea cliffs. The links-influenced layout plays firm and fast over seashore paspalum, exposed to shifting trade winds, with 85 bunkers and a handful of water hazards testing every club in the bag. The property is threaded with ancient Hawaiian sites, including heiau and hand-stacked stone walls estimated at more than five centuries old, which are protected and off-limits to play. Poipu Bay earned lasting fame as host of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994 through 2006, the exclusive season-ending exhibition contested by that year's four major champions, drawing the game's biggest names to its dramatic oceanside closing holes.
