Why we love this place

Ponemah Green is exactly what golf needs more of: a short, Cornish-designed nine where kids, beginners and time-crunched regulars can all play real holes. Paired with Amherst Country Club next door, it's a welcoming front door to the game.

About Ponemah Green

Ponemah Green Family Golf Center opened for play in 1988 on Ponemah Road in Amherst as a nine-hole executive course designed by Geoffrey Cornish. At about 2,200 yards from the back tees, it was built to be quick and approachable, a place for juniors, beginners, seniors and anyone short on time to play real golf on real greens without committing to a full championship round. Today Ponemah Green operates together with Amherst Country Club, its 18-hole neighbor on the same road, sharing a phone line, website and grill, and it offers tee times beginning at 6 a.m. every day of the week during the season. The family-center idea has stayed constant through the years: short holes, a friendly pace, and an easy entry point into the game for the surrounding community.
