Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables traces to a Donald Ross-designed course built in 1924, part of George Merrick's early Coral Gables development. The club was reorganized and opened under the Riviera Country Club name in 1945 after B.F. Smethurst purchased the property. The layout has since seen renovations by Brian Silva (1993), Perry Dye (2003) and Kipp Schulties (2014).
