Est. 1936 · William F. Mitchell (late 1950s); original 1936 holes uncredited
Why we love this place
Pines, history and a William Mitchell layout that once welcomed Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. We love Saratoga Spa for its championship length at a state-park price, its peaceful wooded corridors and a setting that pairs perfectly with a summer afternoon in Saratoga Springs.

About Saratoga Spa State Park
Golf at Saratoga Spa State Park began in 1936, when the original holes opened within the state park in Saratoga Springs; no architect is credited for that first layout. In the late 1950s architect William Mitchell was brought in and designed the championship eighteen largely as it plays today, and shortly afterward Arnold Palmer and Gary Player played a commemorative round to celebrate the reopening. Majestic pines frame many holes, giving the 7,100-yard, par-72 course a secluded feel close to downtown. Professional Golf Services has operated the course under a license from New York State Parks since 2002, and in 2014 it hired Jordan Golf Design to rebuild the 10th green complex, bunkering and drainage. A shorter executive nine completes the 27-hole facility.
