In 1959 the Soule family offered land to Ventura County for a park and golf course, and William F. Bell's municipal course opened there in 1962. Floods in 2005 destroyed bridges and irrigation and tore through the course. Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner led the rebuild, reshaping the greens and bunkers while keeping most of the original routing. The course now hosts the Ojai Senior Cup, and Golf Digest has listed it among the best courses you can play in California.
