About Surf Golf & Beach Club
Surf Golf & Beach Club opened in 1960 in Cherry Grove Beach as a George Cobb design, the first golf course in North Myrtle Beach, and its debut helped announce Myrtle Beach as a rising destination. It was co-owned by Charles Tilghman, grandfather of golf broadcaster Kelly Tilghman, and sits a short iron from the Atlantic. John LaFoy modernized the layout in 1992, and the historically private club has since opened to public play.
