The Bluffs on Thompson Creek

The Bluffs on Thompson Creek opened in 1988 as an Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay signature design in St. Francisville, Louisiana, anchoring a master-planned community in West Feliciana Parish. Routed through the sandy loess hills, hollows and hardwood forests along Thompson Creek, the par-72 course was quickly regarded as one of the South's finest, an unusually dramatic layout for a state better known for flat, coastal terrain. It stretches beyond 7,000 yards and is defined by elevation change rare in Louisiana, including a signature par-3 eighth that drops roughly 50 feet from tee to fairway. Nathan Crace led a renovation in 2006. The course closed in 2022, though new ownership has since pursued efforts to restore and reopen the layout and its lodge.
