About The Golf Club Of Dallas

The Golf Club of Dallas, in the Oak Cliff neighborhood, opened for play in 1953 as Oak Cliff Country Club and was the last course designed by Perry Maxwell before his death in late 1952; his son Press Maxwell completed the design. It hosted the Dallas Open (forerunner of the Byron Nelson tournament) from 1958 to 1967, drawing players such as Sam Snead and Julius Boros. In 2002 the layout was renewed with Charles Coody's assistance to restore its Maxwell character. It was later renamed The Golf Club of Dallas, and in 2020 was purchased by Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (Pastor Tony Evans), which preserved the course after a 2017 plan to redevelop it into housing.
