Timuquana Country Club

Timuquana Country Club traces its founding to a group of Jacksonville golfers who organized in the early 1920s, with the club established in 1923 along the St. Johns River. The course was designed by Donald Ross, who took a flat, sandy parcel of pine forest and shaped it into a deceptively challenging layout using subtle contouring, canted fairways, and the greenside movement that defines his classic work. Over the following decades the club engaged later architects for restorations and updates, but the routing and much of Ross's original strategic character have been carefully preserved. Regarded as one of Florida's important early-era designs, Timuquana blends riverfront setting with understated Golden Age architecture, and it remains a private members' club that quietly ranks among the state's most respected traditional golf courses.
