Wailea Blue Course

Wailea's Blue Course was the resort's very first golf course, opening in 1972 as the anchor of the newly developed 1,500-acre Wailea community on Maui's sunny south shore. Architect Arthur Jack Snyder routed the par-71 layout across gently sloping terrain, framing wide fairways with flowering hibiscus, bougainvillea, plumeria and native wiliwili trees, plus classic coral-sand bunkers, lakes and fountains. Stretching roughly 6,700 yards from the tips, it earned a reputation as a forgiving, resort-friendly track that still rewards good position and delivers sweeping ocean and Haleakala views. Now often called the Old Blue, it remains a walkable, old-school counterpoint to Wailea's later Gold and Emerald courses. Snyder cherished the design so deeply that his ashes were reportedly spread in a bunker beside the 18th green.
