Wailea Emerald Course

The Emerald Course opened in 1994 at Wailea on Maui's southwest coast, the gentler companion to Robert Trent Jones Jr.'s neighboring Gold Course. Where the Gold was built as a tournament-caliber test, the Emerald was shaped to be enjoyable for players of every ability, with generous fairways, softer and more aesthetic bunkering, and few forced carries. Tropical plantings, dramatic ocean views and lush landscaping give it a lush, colorful character that has made it one of Maui's most photographed layouts. A standout feature is the large double green shared by the 10th and 17th holes, a nod to classic architecture. Soon after debuting it was named among Golf Magazine's top ten new courses, and it has been repeatedly honored as one of the most women-friendly courses in the United States by publications including Golf for Women and Golf Digest.
