Walpole Country Club was founded in 1927 as a 9-hole track across Washington Street from its current Baker Street location. The current 18-hole championship course was designed by Al Zikorus on the former Allen family farm and opened in 1974, the land donated by the Allen family with the proviso it never be used for anything but a golf course. In 1994 the club retained architect Ron Forse for a master plan that guided later course improvements. It operates as a daily-fee public course.
