About Barton Creek
The Fazio Foothills course opened in 1986 as the centerpiece of the Barton Creek resort in the hills west of Austin. Architect Tom Fazio routed the layout through dramatic limestone country, and it remains celebrated for its theatrical natural features: cliff-lined fairways, cascading waterfalls, and genuine limestone caves carved into the terrain. Sharp elevation changes and framed canyon views supply much of its visual punch, with short holes like the waterfall-backed ninth among its most photographed. A 2004 project extended the course to roughly 7,125 yards, adding tees and regrassing the fairways and greens to lengthen the playing season. Consistently ranked among the nation's top resort courses and honored by Texas publications for its beauty, Fazio Foothills anchors what has grown into a four-course golf destination.
