Barton Creek Crenshaw Cliffside

The Crenshaw Cliffside Course opened in 1991 at Barton Creek Resort in Austin, designed by Bill Coore and Austin native, two-time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw. It was only their second completed course together and among the last they built before their partnership became widely celebrated. True to their minimalist philosophy, they routed the par-71 layout across the natural contours of the Texas Hill Country, leaning on rolling terrain, limestone plateaus, and native vegetation rather than manufactured features. Crenshaw has long maintained that nature is the finest architect, and the restraint shows throughout. Playing roughly 6,600 yards, it is one of four championship courses at the resort and a favorite among admirers of understated, strategic design that rewards thoughtful play over raw power.
