Belfair Golf Club

Belfair is a private, member-owned golf community in Bluffton spread across roughly 1,100 wooded acres along the inlets of the Colleton River. Its name traces to an 1811 plantation formed when William Telfair married Betsey Bellinger and blended their surnames. Developers brought in Tom Fazio to build 36 holes: the West Course opened in 1996 to wide acclaim, followed by the East Course in 1999. The West offers a more classic, tree-lined parkland feel, while the East plays as an open, links-style test with naturalized sand, native grasses, and broad sightlines. Belfair hosted the 2019 PGA Professional Championship, and the West later reopened after a multimillion-dollar Fazio Design renovation. Together the two courses give members contrasting challenges within one Lowcountry estate.
