Bulls Bay Golf Club

Bulls Bay Golf Club is the final original design of Mike Strantz, the boldly artistic architect named Golf World's Architect of the Year in 1998. On a flat Lowcountry site north of Charleston near Awendaw, Strantz reshaped roughly two million cubic yards of earth to conjure sweeping dunes, dramatic elevation, and windswept vistas evoking the great links of Scotland and Ireland. The course opened in 2002, and a hilltop clubhouse crowns the property with panoramic views over the surrounding marsh and the distant waters of Bulls Bay. Strantz lived on site and considered it a personal masterpiece; he died of cancer in 2005, just days after turning fifty, making Bulls Bay a poignant capstone to a short but hugely influential career. It endures as a private club prized for its imagination, scale, and one-of-a-kind character.
