Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest

Opened around 2010 within the master-planned Brunswick Forest community just south of Wilmington, Cape Fear National was designed by Tim Cate, a prolific southeastern North Carolina architect. The par-72 daily-fee course stretches beyond 7,200 yards from the back tees and threads through heavily undulating terrain, wetlands crossed by wooden bridges, waterfalls, and Cate's signature sweeping beach bunkers that run the length of several holes. Native grasses and wildflowers frame corridors of bermuda fairways leading to bent-grass greens. Shortly after opening it earned national recognition, including a place on Golf Digest's list of the country's best new public courses. Widely regarded as one of the Wilmington area's premier public tests, it blends a Scottish-Pinehurst aesthetic with lowcountry natural features.
