About Thistle Golf Club

Thistle Golf Club opened in 1999 in Sunset Beach, just north of the South Carolina line. It's a 27-hole links-style course by Tim Cate, with stacked-sod bunkers and rolling fairways shaped from a site Cate described as dead flat. It takes its name from the Thistle Golf Club founded in 1815 in Leith, near Edinburgh, one of the world's early golf societies. The original club is long gone, but many of its documents and artifacts are on display in the North Carolina clubhouse. This page shows the MacKay/Cameron pairing; the other two pairings have their own pages.
