About Chechessee Creek Club
Chechessee Creek Club opened in 2000 as an early Lowcountry commission for minimalist architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Developers Jim Chaffin and Jim Light gave them a canvas of mature pines, live oaks, and tidal marsh along Chechessee Creek, and the pair answered with an understated par-70 walking course of roughly 6,600 yards. Small, crowned greens and tightly mown surrounds recall Pinehurst, rewarding precise approaches and a sharp short game over raw length. The clubhouse sits in the middle of the routing rather than out on the marsh, a deliberate nod to golf's Golden Age and to the land itself. Widely praised on its debut as one of the finest modern courses in the country, it remains a private, members-and-guests retreat.
