Corral de Tierra Country Club

Set in the sun-warmed foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains between Salinas and Carmel Valley, the landscape John Steinbeck mined for his fiction, Corral de Tierra Country Club opened in 1959 as a member-owned private club. Architect Bob E. Baldock, a prolific California designer, routed the par-72 layout across gentle elevations and tree-lined fairways, stretching close to 7,000 yards from the back tees. The favorable inland microclimate keeps the course playable year-round, and its demanding conditioning has earned it a role as a U.S. Open local qualifying site. For more than six decades the club has anchored golf, tennis, and social life for Monterey Peninsula and Salinas Valley families, and it runs one of the strongest junior golf programs in Monterey County, drawing multiple generations of members.
