Golf Club Of Houston

The Tournament Course at the Golf Club of Houston, originally known as Redstone, was designed by Rees Jones with PGA Tour winner David Toms consulting and opened for play in 2006 in Humble, just north of Houston. It quickly became the home of the Shell Houston Open, staging the PGA Tour event through 2019. Because the tournament sat on the calendar the week before the Masters, the course was deliberately set up to echo Augusta National's fast, firm conditions, giving players a tune-up before heading to Georgia. The roughly 7,400-yard layout features generous landing areas, multi-tiered green complexes and water in play on several closing holes. Unusually for a Tour venue, it remains open to the public, letting recreational golfers test the same setup the professionals faced each spring.
