About Kiawah Island Club - River Course
The River Course opened in 1995 as the first golf amenity of the private Kiawah Island Club, reserved for members. Designed by Tom Fazio, it was his second project on the island following the resort's Osprey Point, and it reflects his belief that a course should mirror the beauty of its surroundings. Stretching to roughly 7,119 yards, the layout winds past coastal grasslands, ponds and stands of Kiawah's live-oak forest, with the tidal Kiawah River shaping several holes. Fazio balanced generous playing corridors with well-defended greens, producing a test regarded as both demanding and refined. The course drew national acclaim upon its debut and has long been counted among the finest private courses in South Carolina. Paired with the Club's later Cassique course, the River Course anchors one of the most exclusive golf experiences in the Lowcountry, blending championship challenge with polished, low-key luxury.
