Kinloch Golf Club

Kinloch Golf Club opened in April 2001 in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia, west of Richmond. Architect Lester George was selected in early 1999 and designed the course in collaboration with Virginia amateur great Marvin Vinny Giles III. The pair routed the layout across rolling, wooded terrain laced with lakes and creeks, producing a strategic modern course that quickly drew national attention. In its debut year Kinloch was named Golf Digest's Best New Private Course, a rare distinction for a first-time design partnership, and it has since been recognized as one of Virginia's premier golf clubs. The course later earned selection to host the U.S. Mid-Amateur, a championship suited to its demanding, shot-testing character. Combining generous but well-defended fairways with water in play on several holes, Kinloch reflects a design philosophy focused on variety, playability, and challenge, and it remains among the most highly regarded courses built in the state in the modern era.
