Nantucket Golf Club

Nantucket Golf Club opened in 1998 on roughly 250 acres of rolling former farmland near Siasconset on the island's east end. Architect Rees Jones, working with design partner Greg Muirhead, shaped a par-72 links-style layout across open, windswept terrain with few trees to blunt the Atlantic breeze. The club was conceived as an ultra-private retreat, and at its debut it carried one of the highest initiation fees in the game. Firm, fast conditions and broad fairways reward players who flight the ball low and use the ground, in keeping with the exposed seaside setting. Widely ranked among the top modern courses in Massachusetts, it remains a quiet, membership-only club that prizes seclusion over publicity, standing apart from the far older public tracks that first brought golf to Nantucket.
