Norwood Hills Country Club

Norwood Hills is one of St. Louis's grand old clubs, its two courses tracing back to an early-1920s Wayne Stiles design. The tree-lined, rolling layouts have long been a proving ground for championship golf. The club's defining moment came in 1948, when it hosted the PGA Championship, then contested at match play. Ben Hogan captured the title with a commanding 7-and-6 victory over Mike Turnesa in the final, the second of his eventual nine major championships and one of three majors he would win that year. Over the decades Norwood Hills has continued to attract significant events, including national left-handed championships in the 1930s and 40s, an LPGA tournament in the 1960s, PGA Tour stops in the early 1970s, and a U.S. Senior Amateur in 2001, keeping its competitive legacy alive.
