The Country Club of Pittsfield was founded in 1897 when a group of local men and women established a nine-hole course on rented land south of downtown. The present 18-hole, par-71 layout was designed by Donald Ross in 1915 and remodeled in 1931 by Wayne Stiles of the Stiles & Van Kleek firm. Set on a 230-acre former estate at 639 South Street, the course features dramatic elevation changes and views of Mount Greylock.
