Why we love this place
We love Talamore because it proves golf can take itself a little less seriously. Yes, there are llamas, and yes, they're wonderful, but there's also a genuinely good Rees Jones layout under all that Sandhills pine. It's the rare course that's memorable before you've even hit a shot.

About Talamore Golf Club
Talamore Golf Club opened in 1991 in Southern Pines, North Carolina, in the heart of the Sandhills golf region, with a course designed by Rees Jones. The layout earned solid reviews on its own merits, but what pushed Talamore into the national conversation was an unforgettable marketing idea: llama caddies. Introduced around the grand opening, the llamas generated thousands of newspaper and magazine stories worldwide and gave the club an identity it still embraces today, affectionately nicknamed 'The Llama.' The animals no longer carry bags, but they remain part of the property, and the club's logo is a llama. In late 2021 the resort welcomed a baby llama named 'Jones,' a nod to architect Rees Jones. Beyond the mascots, Talamore offers classic Sandhills golf on sandy, pine-lined terrain.
