About Tecolote Canyon Golf Course

A city-owned 18-hole executive course (par 58) that opened in 1964 in Tecolote Canyon, bordered by the Clairemont, Bay Park and Linda Vista neighborhoods. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed it, and local golf writers credit Hall of Famer Sam Snead as a collaborator; the course's street is Snead Avenue. The canyon routing brings elevation changes, tight tee shots and hazards on almost every hole. The city has sought lease proposals to renovate it, including new bridges over Tecolote Creek.
