Achasta Golf Club

Achasta Golf Club opened in 2000 as a Jack Nicklaus Signature course in Dahlonega, Georgia, roughly an hour north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its defining feature is the Chestatee River, which the routing crosses seven times and which frames much of the round with mountain and water views. The most talked-about hole is the fifth, played entirely on an island within the river, a bold, memorable challenge in a region known more for gold-mining history than for golf. Stretching close to 7,000 yards at par 72, the course rolls over gentle terrain with bentgrass greens and asks players to respect the water throughout. As the centerpiece of a residential golf community, Achasta pairs a championship-caliber design with the scenery of north Georgia's mountains.
