Blackhorse Golf Club

BlackHorse Golf Club opened in the summer of 2000 in Cypress, roughly 25 miles northwest of downtown Houston, and quickly became one of Texas's marquee daily-fee destinations. The 36-hole complex was designed by PGA Tour player Peter Jacobsen and architect Jim Hardy, who routed two distinct championship layouts, the North and the South, across former sand-and-gravel quarry land. That reclaimed terrain gives the property dramatic elevation change and rugged quarry features unusual for the flat Houston coastal plain, with the North stretching past 7,300 yards from the tips. The ranch-style clubhouse anchors the facility, and its restaurant, Jake's Grill, is named for Jacobsen. Praised as one of the state's best public 36-hole operations, BlackHorse has stayed a fixture on regional top public course lists and a frequent host of competitive amateur play.
