Franconia Golf Course is one of the City of Springfield's two municipal courses, at 619 Dwight Road. It was designed by Wayne Stiles and his associate John Van Kleek and opened in 1929, with the full 18 holes in play by the early 1930s. Long nicknamed the "country club" of New England public golf, it later received revisions associated with Geoffrey Cornish and recently underwent about a million dollars in renovations.
