Lake Junaluska Golf Course opened in 1919 on the Southern Methodist assembly grounds established at Lake Junaluska beginning in 1910. The original nine-hole course was built by Jerry Liner and attributed in design to prolific early-era architect Tom Bendelow. The historic course is owned by the United Methodist Church and open to public play.
