Leatherstocking Golf Course

Leatherstocking Golf Course opened in 1909 on the shores of Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, built alongside The Otesaga resort by the Clark family. Architect Devereux Emmet, a prolific designer credited with more than 150 courses, laid out the original nine, which drew national praise upon its debut. A decade later, in 1919, Emmet returned to expand the course to a full eighteen holes across about 90 acres, and the classic Northeast-style routing has changed remarkably little since. Late-1990s upgrades added expanded tee boxes, modern drainage, reworked cart paths and reshaped bunkers while preserving Emmet's character. Tucked into the same village as the Baseball Hall of Fame, the lakeside course remains one of the most scenic and enduring resort layouts in New York.
