Marlborough Country Club formally opened on June 3, 1922, its feature event a four-ball best-ball match in which U.S. Open champion Francis Ouimet and partner Larry Paton won. The original (now back) nine was designed by Wayne Stiles, and in 1970 Geoffrey Cornish added a second nine that became the front nine. The club plays to a par of 71 and reflects classic early-20th-century New England golf architecture.
