About Mission Bay Golf Course and Practice Center

A city-owned executive course on 46 acres beside Mission Bay. City records, as summarized locally, say it opened as a 9-hole layout on May 27, 1955; in the early 1960s Ted Robinson, a future president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, rebuilt it as the 18-hole par 58 (14 par 3s, four par 4s) played today. The City of San Diego took over daily operations in November 2003. It is known as the city's night-lit course, though night play has been paused during lighting upgrades.
