About Mission Trails Golf Course

A city-owned 18-hole course in the canyons of San Carlos near Mission Trails Regional Park, credited to William P. Bell. Its opening date is disputed: some listings say 1950, while the city's account and the course cite a 1964 Bell design. One reference book credits a second nine to Robert Muir Graves. Longtime players remember the grounds as Navajo Canyon. In 1990, 14-year-old Tiger Woods won his fifth Junior World title here. American Golf Corporation ran it from 1986, and the city has since sought a new lessee.
