Pinehurst No. 11 is Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's first original design at Pinehurst, set to open March 29, 2027. It sits at Pinehurst Sandmines, next to No. 10, on ground mined from the 1930s through the 1950s. The old spoil piles and man-made landforms, softened by decades of growth, were worked into the course rather than graded away. Coore and Crenshaw have visited Pinehurst since the 1970s, and their 2011 restoration of No. 2 brought back Donald Ross's sandscapes and wiregrass.
