Seven Oaks Golf Club

Golf at Colgate University traces to 1916, but the modern layout grew from a 1934 vision to build a full course on the acquired Dunn Farm northeast of campus. Robert Trent Jones Sr., then early in his career, drew the plans, reworking them through thirteen concepts as the Depression and World War II stalled the project; legendary player Gene Sarazen contributed to early ideas, imagining an "Augusta of the North." The first nine holes were dedicated on July 4, 1958, and the second nine opened September 4, 1965, completing the course. Owned by Colgate and long ranked among the nation's finest collegiate venues, Seven Oaks has hosted the 1977 NCAA National Championship, the New York Women's State Amateur, and Patriot League championships across its rolling central New York terrain.
