The South Course was the first of Forest Creek Golf Club's two Tom Fazio courses, opening in 1996, with design inspiration drawn from Augusta National's rolling parkland style. The private club was formed in the early 1990s when brothers Terry and Louis Meyer Brown developed a large inherited tract; the North Course followed in 2005. The South Course recently underwent a multi-month restoration.
