Est. 2004 · Jeffrey D. Brauer
Why we love this place
We love The Wilderness for how wild it actually feels. Jeffrey Brauer threaded the holes through Brazos River wetlands and wildlife sanctuaries, so you share the round with herons and gators, and the course still holds up as a genuine championship test from the back.

About The Wilderness Golf Club
The Wilderness opened in 2004 in Lake Jackson, in southern Brazoria County about ten miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Architect Jeffrey Brauer, whose Texas portfolio also includes Cowboys Golf Club, Tangle Ridge and Tempest, laid the course across more than 230 acres bordered by the Brazos River and three wildlife sanctuaries, so wetlands and streams frame many holes. The par-72 layout carries seven sets of tees, from about 5,270 to just over 7,000 yards, and the property is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Managed by KemperSports, it has earned a reputation as one of the strongest public courses on the Texas coast, and in 2023 it hosted its first Texas Golf Association championship, the South Amateur.
