About Tpc Sugarloaf
TPC Sugarloaf opened in 1997 in Duluth, Georgia, as Greg Norman's first golf course design in the United States. The club's championship layout is formed from the Stables and Meadows nines; Norman added a third nine, the Pines, in 1999, giving the property 27 holes. From 1997 through 2008 the course hosted the PGA Tour's Atlanta-area stop, known during that era as the BellSouth Classic, played over the Stables and Meadows nines. That run produced a marquee roll of champions including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson (a multiple winner), David Duval, Retief Goosen and Zach Johnson. The design is known for its slick, sharply contoured greens and stacked sod-wall bunkers, a British-inspired touch uncommon on American courses of the 1990s.
