About Vesper Country Club

Vesper Country Club was incorporated in 1899, growing out of the 1894 merger of the Vesper Boat Club (founded 1875) and the Lowell Country Club on Tyngs Island in the Merrimack River. A rudimentary six-hole course was laid out in 1895, and in the late 1910s Donald Ross was commissioned to redesign the existing nine and add nine more, with the full 18-hole layout opening June 23, 1921. Vesper was a founding member of the Massachusetts Golf Association in 1903 and has hosted the Massachusetts Open and Amateur.
