Wahconah Country Club in Dalton was conceived in October 1928 with Wayne Stiles (of Stiles & Van Kleek) as architect; play began on the front nine in late 1929 and the formal opening was held May 30, 1930. The back nine, built following Stiles' original routing, was constructed from 1959 and opened in 1961 under architect Geoffrey Cornish. On August 15, 1948, Bobby Jones played his last round of golf here.
