About Wellesley Country Club
Wellesley Country Club was established in 1910, with members leasing town land and using the former poor house as a clubhouse. Donald Ross laid out the original 9-hole course in 1911; seven of those holes are still played, though none of the original Ross greens remain. Wayne Stiles and John Van Kleek remodeled the layout in the late 1920s, and after members purchased land from the Sisters of Charity in 1960, Geoffrey Cornish designed the additional holes to create the 18-hole course — making Wellesley one of the few clubs touched by all three of New England's most prolific architects.
