Woodland Golf Club, founded in 1896 in the Auburndale village of Newton, is one of New England's historic clubs. Donald Ross designed its full 18-hole course (commissioned 1901, completed by 1903 — among his earliest American courses) and returned to redesign it in 1928; Geoffrey Cornish completed a further redesign in 1961. Woodland is the home club of Francis Ouimet and celebrates three U.S. Amateur champions — Ouimet, Jesse Guilford and Ted Bishop — with three stars in its logo.
