Alamance Country Club in Burlington was formed in 1946 after the nearby Piedmont Country Club closed in 1945, through the efforts of Thomas Cooper and Emerson Sanders. The 18-hole course is credited to Donald Ross and was renovated by Bob Cupp in the 1990s. It has hosted the NC State Amateur, CGA Mid-Amateur, and U.S. Open qualifying.
