About Asheboro Municipal Gc
Asheboro Municipal is a 9-hole, city-owned course (par 35, about 3,074 yards) widely attributed to Donald Ross, with the design dated to the mid-1930s and play beginning around 1937. Observers describe it as largely unaltered since opening, with the original routing and most bunkers intact. It also figures in local civil-rights history: the NAACP's 1964 Asheboro integration campaign included demands to open the municipal course to Black players. It is operated today by the City of Asheboro's Cultural & Recreation Services. The Ross attribution rests on secondary sources and has not been confirmed in a primary Ross archive.
