Bandon Trails

Bandon Trails, the third course at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, opened June 1, 2005 from the design team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. Following the ocean-hugging Bandon Dunes and Pacific Dunes, Coore and Crenshaw were handed an inland parcel with no Pacific frontage and turned that constraint into the course's identity. Their routing threads three distinct ecosystems: it begins amid towering sand dunes, moves through open meadow, climbs into upland coastal forest, then returns to the dunes to finish. The minimalist, low-disturbance design leans on natural landforms and indigenous vegetation, and is widely praised for its variety and walkability rather than for water views. Regularly ranked among the top public courses in the United States, Trails demonstrated that the resort's interior land was as compelling as its celebrated coastline, and it remains a favorite among architecture-minded golfers visiting Bandon.
