Bethpage Yellow

The Yellow is the newest of Bethpage State Park's five courses, designed by Alfred Tull and opened in 1958 to meet surging public demand for golf on Long Island. Tull built it largely as a fresh layout, incorporating some holes from the existing Blue course while creating replacement and revised holes so the two courses could coexist on the property. The other Bethpage courses trace to the 1930s, when the state acquired the former Lenox Hills Country Club and hired A.W. Tillinghast to build the Black, Red and Blue and rework the Green; the Yellow arrived a generation later. Playing to roughly 6,300 yards and a par of 71, it is a friendlier, more forgiving test than the fearsome Black, making it a popular everyday option for the crowds that flock to this storied public golf destination.
