Crotched Mountain Golf Club

Est. 1930 · Donald Ross (original nine); second nine built to Ross principles, renovated 1992
Why we love this place

Crotched Mountain lets you play a genuine Donald Ross nine from around 1930 at the foot of a mountain in the Monadnock region. We love its elevated greens, the long views across the hills, and the easygoing daily-fee feel of a classic New Hampshire course that rewards a sharp short game.

About Crotched Mountain Golf Club

Crotched Mountain Golf Club sits at the base of Crotched Mountain in Francestown, looking out over New Hampshire's Monadnock region. The club, originally known as Tory Pines Resort, first opened for play around 1930 as a nine-hole course designed by Donald Ross; some directories date the Ross work to 1929. That original nine remains the club's point of pride. A second nine was added later, built to follow Ross's design principles, and it was renovated in 1992, giving the club a full 18-hole layout. The course has a reputation as a demanding test, with several elevated greens and relatively few sand bunkers, while the mountainside setting provides wide views across the surrounding hills. The course is part of the Crotched Mountain Resort property on the Second New Hampshire Turnpike, and it is open to the public for daily-fee play through a season that typically runs from April into early November.
